Delta Deepwater Services — Operations Base
A marine-grade operations base: 3-storey office block, 900m² workshop with 20-tonne overhead crane, and chloride-resistant concrete throughout.
The engineering challenge
Salt-laden air and a high water table demanded durability detailing beyond standard practice; the client's insurers required a 50-year design life certification on the crane runway beams.
How we solved it
We specified GGBS-blended concrete with 60mm cover and stainless rebar in splash zones, validated by 90-day chloride migration testing. Crane runways were designed to Eurocode fatigue class with third-party certification from the outset — insurance sign-off came without a single query.
